We have over thirty years of experience in preparing people for Cambridge exams and consider that the main exams are B2 (First certificate) , C1 (Advanced) and C2 (Proficiency).
Junior exams have a place but teach children to pass Cambridge exams not to speak.
For younger children we prefer exams based on Trinity exams which are spoken.
We work with Examens Girona to provide a service for our students who wish to take Cambridge exams throughout the year.
In July we run intensive courses with the exam at the end in conjunction with Examens Girona.
This allows the Student a four week intensive exam practice and to go to the exam with it uppermost in their mind and ready to go.
Cambridge B1 is a basic qualification nowadays for many jobs and positions nowadays and John and John are highly experienced in the teaching of this exam.
C1 should now be the aim of those who wish to use English in their lives, either for work or for personal purposes. Here we teach not just exam and grammar but ensure that our students have speaking abilities beyond the mere exam requirements. Our students are comfortable not just in exam but alos in work and social situations.
These are a series of exams that are one to one with an examinar and are completely oral. Based on the 12 levels of the Common European Framework of languages there are Trinity exams from beginner to proficiency levels.
Trinity tests the ability of students to master the spoken Language and are recognised world-wide.
Our school exams are based on Trinity as it shows whether students can talk fluently at their level and gives them confidence in their abilities. This is especially positive for younger students. I would recommend these exams for young learners rather than Cambridge which test more acadèmic skills rather than fluency skills.
For the older students we recommend a mix of B2 and Trinity Advanced for their currículum as it shows a potential employer that the candidate dominates English at a practical level.
